What is the name of this language?

Two questions for thought and commentary:

a) What shall we call our language-in-development?

b) Do we want a concultural component to this?

a) I like having a name that makes sense in the language, like "our language", "how we speak", or props to that language family in Australia for "this"

b) I like conculture, makes vocabulary coining easier because you know how your speakers think.

a) While we're at the name of languages, there is also Bislama which supposedly means sea cucmber. No idea why.

I liked the term viazi, which someone in the morphology thread itof* coined/backformed. It however has pages of metacrawler hits so might not be a good idea. If it is okay, we might use something like viazi u jizai for 'language of us'. We could use the term kolis (talk) from downforum: kolis u jizai. Both names have only one metacrawler hit.

"this" is a neat idea. As far as my conlangs go, I've had names meaning "language of the land", "language of magic", "I speak", and "Dragon's cry". The first two come from the same conworld so most of the languages in that conworld are "language of"s. "I speak" came when I really just didn't know what to call it and then thought that that would be straightforward, and "Dragon's cry" is a language where the conpeople who speak it are actually imitating the sounds dragons use to communicate. Just throwing stuff out there. I really like tying what the language is used for/how the people who speak it percieve the language into the name.

Using "this", to me at least, suggests the conpeople are frank. Like, "What language are you speaking?" "This one. Duh." Or something. [/speculation]

So that's my two cents.

Then what about a compound word that's a calque for "this language" or "our language"?

For language:
koliku (the child of "kolis" and "kuniku", the first being "talk" from the Sentences About the Book thread, and the other being a hypothetical word for "word" in the Morphology thread.)

Keakoliku or Kenakoliku are fun to say, but a little sharp with all those k's.

Meh. I may take that back to the drawing board. Just throwing this out there.
